  12.     I have one of the new "V34+" 33.6k Sportster modems from US Robotics 
  13. and I was wondering if anyone has experienced the following problem.
  14.     I have a Cyclades 8yo card which I connect my Sporsters to and the 
  15. other "regular v34" Sportsters work fine.  However, the V34+ causes mgetty 
  16. under Linux to respawn repeatedly so that I see a 'disabled for 5 minutes 
  17. message in /usr/adm/messages.
  18.     The registers seem to have changed.  The only setting I changed on the 
  19. V34+ was set S13 = to 1.
  20.     I thought something was wrong with the modem so swapped it for a new 
  21. one but it still does the same thing.  I have tried it on the same ports
  22. that the other regular V34's work on and it still causes mgetty to respawn.

  24. Any ideas?  I know these modems are very popular so I'd expect there'd
  25. be a lot of messages about this problem if it was a hardware problem, but...
